Watching Video
As with any large phone like the Samsung Galaxy Note series (Note, Note 2, Note 3, Note 4, Mega, etc), you tend to watch more videos with it. The size of the phone makes a better viewing experience. But.. those phones do not have a kickstand... but Flygrip can solve that problem. Video Chat
Using your phone for Facetime or Video chat is another reason that a kickstand is very useful. Just prop up your phone and cat away.

I leave my phone on my desk with the kickstand up so that any new notification that pops up, I can see it easily without having to grab for it. Notifications like new messages, emails, financial stock ticker, weather, sport scores, all pop up on my screen. It';s like having an extra monitor on my desk.
